Broadband Competition Map

 

 

The following "Number of Broadband Providers by Census Block" maps display (on a census block level) the number of carriers who provide service to all or part of each Illinois census block.

There are three versions of the map: The first excludes satellite and cellular providers, the second includes cellular providers but excludes satellite providers, and the third includes all broadband providers.

This map does not attempt to show the speeds available, pricing information or any type of adoption or market penetration rates. Its purpose is to illustrate areas where consumers have fewer choices in the number of competitive broadband offerings. Comparing the competitiveness of a market shows where there may be more aggressive pricing, data transfer limitations and maximum speed offerings.
